Dentures are a great way to improve the
appearance and chewing functionality of anyone with missing
teeth. However, aside from routine maintenance, from time
to time you'll need to have your dentures relined. Denture
relining is the term for re-fitting and re-shaping dentures
after they've become loose.
Your mouth and gums shrink as your
mouth changes with age, and your dentures can become loose
and uncomfortable. Denture relining ensures a new, comfortable
fit.
2 types of denture relining
Permanent Reline: Typically,
this is done in a dental lab. The advantage is that the
plastic will be cured professionally, and the results
will be long lasting and precision crafted. These can
be made with both hard and soft relines for comfort.
Soft Reline: Typically
this is done in the dentist's office. They're less precise,
and the results do not last as long as hard relines. Soft
relines are generally done only for minor adjustment.
Benefits of denture relining
- Your dentures will fit better
- They'll last longer
- Relining them will improve your dental
health
