Crowns
& Bridges
If you have teeth that are severely decayed
or missing, tooth crowns and tooth
bridges are a common and effective solution. A crown will
preserve the tooth's natural root, giving it a new chewing
surface; and a bridge will fill gaps with artificial teeth.
Crowns and bridges are used separately or in combination
to correct a variety of tooth problems and restore your healthy,
beautiful smile.
Crowns
Dental crowns are tooth covers made of porcelain,
which are bonded to the natural tooth with a laser-activated
resin material. The porcelain is custom-colored to match your
existing teeth.
Bridges
Bridges are false teeth to replace missing teeth. The false
teeth - called "pontics" - are also made of porcelain. The
pontic fills the hole left by the missing teeth, and is attached
to crowns over the natural teeth on either side.
Placing crowns and/or bridges typically involves three appointments
over the course of about a month. First, you'll meet with
one of our excellent doctors for a free initial consultation.
That's when a course of treatment will be determined.
During the second appointment, an impression of your mouth
will be taken, which is used to create custom-fitted crowns
and/or bridges - designed to match the shape, color and size
of your existing teeth. The crowns and bridges
are applied during a third appointment. The end result is
a full, dazzling smile, free of gaps, chips, cracks and damage.
